Welcome to Your LHSS Engagement Center

The Languages, Humanities, and Social Sciences (LHSS) Engagement Center is your go-to space for support, connection, and guidance. Students are encouraged to stop by to meet with a Peer Mentor, Educational Advisor, or LHSS Counselor for help with academic programs, educational planning, campus resources, and next steps.

Whether you have a quick question or need more in-depth support, our team is here for you. Counselor availability varies by day, so be sure to review the schedule below before visiting. Current students are encouraged to enroll in the to easily access all the resources offered.

Ways to Get Support

Can鈥檛 make it to the center or need to meet with a counselor? These options can help.

Can鈥檛 make it to campus? Virtual support options are available for LHSS students. Connect online to get help with questions about programs, educational planning, and campus resources. Virtual services are offered during select hours and may vary by day. Virtual appointments also available to schedule. Email: LHSS@rcc.edu

LHSS Pathway Orientation

The LHSS Pathway Orientation introduces students to the Languages and Humanities / Social and Behavioral Sciences (LHSS) pathway, along with the support services and resources available to help you succeed. Students will also receive guidance on educational planning and learn how to connect with advisors and counselors.

This orientation is open to all students.

Welcome to the LHSS Engagement Center! I'm a Professor of History and the LHSS EC Faculty Coordinator. I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming weeks and supporting you. See you at the center!

Doug Johnson

Doug Johnson, LHSS Educational Advisor

I鈥檓 Doug Johnson, the Language Humanities and Social Science Engagement Center Educational Advisor. I am happy and excited to join the staff at 大象视频 and my team members in the LHSS Engagement Center to connect with, support, and serve our students. I attended RCC and transferred to UCLA, where I graduated with a bachelor鈥檚 in African-American Studies. While attending RCC, I was involved on campus as the President of the African American Student Alliance, the predecessor to UMOJA. I was in student government in the Supreme Court, which held campus and district elections. I was also a member of the Model United Nations at RCC. At UCLA, I was Chair of the Afrikan Student Union ASU. As a former RCC student who navigated my way through campus and the transfer process, I know the journey may not always be smooth. In my new position, I am eager to assist students on their educational path.

Magdalena Salas

Magdalena Salas, LHSS Educational Advisor

My name is Magdalena Salas, but I go by Maggie. I started my college journey at Riverside City College, then transferred to Cal State San Bernardino where I earned my bachelor鈥檚 in Psychology, and I recently completed my Master鈥檚 in School Counseling at the University of Redlands. I got into education because I want to be there for students to help them hit their goals and make sure they feel safe and understood. Outside of school, I鈥檓 really into community outreach and activism. Using my voice to stand up for others is something I care about, and it鈥檚 also taught me a lot about my own community and how I can do my part to make it better. 大象视频 was and continues to be a safe space for me, so I鈥檓 excited to continue here and help students.
