大象视频 (RCC) and Riverside Workforce Development (RIVCO) collaborated to  host the Fresh Start: Justice Impacted Job and Resource Fair on October 1, providing students with direct access to employers offering interviews, resources, and immediate hiring opportunities. The event emphasized justice鈥impacted students鈥 journeys and was designed to bridge the gap between academic progress and employment by connecting students with organizations committed to supporting nontraditional career pathways. The fair was a collaborative effort between the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career Closet, Rising Scholars, RCC Transitioning Minds, and the County of Riverside Workforce Development Division.

More than 140 job seekers attended the fair, creating a vibrant and engaging environment for students exploring new career paths. Employers and supportive service providers showed strong interest, with 33 total vendors participating, including 13 employers, 10 supportive service providers, and 10 additional vendors.

Students were encouraged to bring copies of their r茅sum茅s and share more about their academic journeys, career goals, and the types of professional connections they hoped to build. Employers gained an understanding of students鈥 strengths and provided them with a chance to practice presenting themselves in a supportive environment.

Employers offered on鈥the鈥spot interviews and immediate hiring opportunities, giving students direct access to the first steps toward employment while continuing their education at RCC.

Goodwill, preparing to open a new store in Riverside, demonstrated its commitment to their motto 鈥淭ransforming Lives Through the Power of Work.鈥 The organization conducted multiple on鈥the鈥spot interviews; hiring 7 candidates, extending 2 additional offers and 1 managerial offer. Their strong engagement marked one of the most impactful outcomes of the fair and highlighted the value of employer partnerships.

Representatives from attending organizations offered insight into their missions, hiring needs, and the qualities they seek in ideal applicants. In total, 33 employers and community partners participated, creating a diverse range of opportunities for students exploring new career paths.

Event curator Merial Anderson鈥McDade, Career and Technical Education Employment Placement Coordinator, stated, 鈥淐ommunity college isn鈥檛 just academics; it is about showing up for students from every background and every journey. With the County of Riverside Workforce Development Division standing beside us, we were able to help students take steps toward employment and build connections that matter. For our justice鈥impacted students especially, this support reinforces their momentum. We are putting the community back into community college by bridging the gap between students and employers.鈥

Some of the organizations in attendance included RCC Rising Scholars, Primerica, Inland Empire Health Plan, ReLeaf, MFI Recovery, BBOP Center, and the University of California, San Bernardino TRIO program. Additional support came from the CTE Engagement Center, the Business Law and Computer Information Systems Engagement Center, and partners such as Job Developers, Transitional Minds, and other community鈥focused workforce advocates.

Refreshments were provided to job seekers throughout the fair, creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for students navigating the next steps in their professional journeys.

大象视频 remains proud to serve students of every background and every journey. The Fresh Start job and resource fair reflects our commitment to creating spaces where all students feel supported, seen, and connected to opportunity.
