From RCC to Corporate Communications: Brianna Brent鈥檚 Journey of Purpose and Persistence

When Brianna Brent walked onto the 大象视频 (RCC) campus, she wasn鈥檛 entirely sure where her path would lead. What she did know鈥攖hanks to her mother鈥檚 encouragement鈥攚as that higher education would give her options, even if she wasn鈥檛 ready to commit to a specific career.
Her journey wasn鈥檛 a straight line. 鈥淚 followed my mom鈥檚 advice to take one class at a time so school didn鈥檛 feel like a chore,鈥 Brianna recalled. 鈥淚t took me longer to graduate, but it allowed me to explore different subjects and discover what I really enjoyed.鈥 That curiosity led her to earn not one, but three associate degrees from RCC鈥攊n Communications, Humanities Philosophy and Art, and Social and Behavioral Studies.
One course in particular, an interpersonal communications class, sparked her passion for the field. 鈥淚t opened my eyes to how communication shapes everything鈥攆rom personal relationships to cultural traditions to how organizations connect with people,鈥 she said. That interest carried her to California State University, San Bernardino, where she earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in Communications and Public Relations, and later to Southern New Hampshire University, where she completed her master鈥檚 degree in Communications with an emphasis in New Media and Marketing.

Today, Brianna is a Senior Corporate Marketing Communications professional for Paramount Residential Mortgage Group, where she creates and executes company-wide communication strategies for more than 2,000 employees. Her work includes internal newsletters, press releases, and engagement initiatives鈥攕kills she first began honing during an internship at the same company while still in college. 鈥淚鈥檝e always loved to write,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hat internship turned into a full-time job, and I鈥檝e been growing here ever since.鈥
Brianna credits RCC with giving her both the academic foundation and the confidence to succeed in her career. Supportive instructors, real-world assignments, and opportunities to network with classmates all played a role. 鈥淒on鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions, connect with your peers, and use every resource available鈥攆rom the Writing Center to career fairs,鈥 she advised current students. 鈥淭he relationships you build can open doors years later.鈥
Her advice to those hesitant about starting college is simple: 鈥淛ust take one class. You might find that one subject that changes everything for you鈥攍ike communications did for me.鈥
From a student unsure of her direction to a communications leader shaping organizational culture, Brianna Brent鈥檚 story is proof that persistence, curiosity, and connection can turn an uncertain beginning into a career with purpose.
